Big Brother Evictee Sammy M Believes She Let Her Ill Father Down

Sammy M says participating on Big Brother Mzansi was more than just a dream for her; it was also an investment in her family’s financial security, especially given her father’s declining health.

Siphosethu Mxunyelwa, a 22-year-old from King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape, was given a curve ball when she was ousted from the 24/7 reality show on Sunday, missing out on a chance to win the R2 million grand prize.

Mxunyelwa told Sowetan on Monday that she had numerous regrets and wishes she had pushed herself more.

I am extremely sad and angry with myself for not keeping to my original aim of making SA fall in love with who I truly am. I should have gone all in in the first week, and maybe I wouldn’t be where I am now, Mxunyelwa added.

To be honest, the night before the eviction, I had a strange feeling that I was going home, and I’m sorry to tell that I was correct.

Being evicted means I won’t be able to provide my father the best medication he deserves. He suffered a mild stroke in 2018, and my mother has been caring for him while we travel from one location to another… this is why receiving the money would have meant a lot to me, but especially to him.

In retrospect, Mxunyelwa wishes she had played a different game and believed it was too early to emerge as the life of the party in the house.

I enjoy dancing and can go for almost two hours, but I believe that was the issue. Viewers probably saw me dancing more than talking, she explained.

Generally, I am a sociable person who enjoys interacting with others. But I’m not sure what it was like to be there. With all those cameras, I became too quiet in the house and didn’t wear my heart on my sleeve as much as I should have.

Mxunyelwa intends to take a week off from the world to rest and heal from her disappointment.

I simply want to be home with my mother. I need her during this time, she explained.

After I’ve kissed my wounds, I intend to sign with an agency and apply for acting gigs. People will perceive my light, whichever way.

Mxunyelwa stated that she was pulling for Zed to win the season.

She is really sincere and nice. She balances sweetness and feistiness. But she’s an all-around people person, and no one deserves it more than her, Mxunyelwa remarked.
