Funeral

Nhlanhla Ngema, a spokesperson for the Ngema family, said that the family and Dr. Ngema’s company, Committed Artists, have announced that a memorial service for the famous playwright will take place at the Playhouse in Durban on January 3, 2024.

We will let you know soon about where the funeral will be held in KZN. The time of the funeral service will also be given.

The Ngema family and Committed Artists would like to thank everyone who has shown their grief and kept the story going since Dr. Ngema’s sudden death.

Dr. Ngema was not just theirs; he belonged to all of South Africa and the world, Nhlanhla Ngema said.

The Department of Forensic Pathology Services in the Eastern Cape finished an autopsy on Ngema earlier.

Sizwe Kupelo, a spokesman for the Eastern Cape Health Department, said that the Ngema family identified his body at the hospital on Thursday.

The department did the autopsy right away and gave his body to the family.

Investigation

Also, a case of culpable homicide has been started because of the car accident that killed Ngema.

Unathi Binqose, a spokesman for the Eastern Cape Transport Department, said that all three people in the car were seriously hurt. Ngema was rushed to OR and Adelaide Tambo Memorial Hospital in Mbizana, but was pronounced dead when he got there.

The people inside the truck, on the other hand, were not hurt.

The circumstances of what led to the crash are still unknown at this point. They have started a case of culpable homicide at Bizana Saps so that they can look into it further, said Binqose.
