Maybe It Would Have Kept Him Safe, Nakai On The Cross Pendant AKA Always Wore
The late rapper’s girlfriend is going to release a song about him called “Never Leave,” which features Kashcpt.
AKA’s 36th birthday is coming up this Friday, and his girlfriend Nadia Nakai is going to release a song in his honour. She also recently talked about a cross charm that AKA bought for her while they were on vacation in the US.
She said that AKA had said he would always wear the collar, but on the day he was killed, he didn’t.
He used to brag that he would never take off this cross pendant, but the day he died, he did. She said on SlikourOnLife, I wish he had kept it on; maybe it would have kept him safe. Nakai now wears it every day.
The song, called “Never Leave featuring Kashcpt,” is a tribute to Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, who was killed in Durban last year in what police think was a hit. Two suspects were caught, but they haven’t been put on trial for the murder yet.
The story behind Never Leave is just something I wish he never did. I wish he could stay here with me forever. He’s gone and I’m trying to come to terms with what that means,” said Nakai speaking to SlikourOnLife.

AKA BIRTHDAY PARTY
AKA’s family, friends, and fans will enjoy his birthday without him, but they will still remember him.
The Kiernan Forbes Foundation and the clothing company Bravado have agreed to work together to make a special fashion line in honour of the late rapper. From January 26th to January 28th, there will be a pop-up art and merchandise show at Sook, Mall of Africa. It will have unique art and merchandise that honours AKA.
The collaboration also gives up-and-coming South African artists a chance to show off their skills and gives AKA’s fans an experience they’ll never forget, the foundation said.
Tony Forbes, the rapper’s father, said that the original GALXBOY memory t-shirt with the GALXBOY cloth and style will be one of the things that will be for sale.
AKA’s father is using the days before his son’s birthday to get into better health and give AKA a gift after the fact.
Forbes, 57, never got around to working out until the first Saturday of the year, after putting it off all week.
Forbes said that he told everyone about his workout plan because he wanted support.
It was important to me to be responsible to both myself and the people. For about a week, he told The Citizen, If I don’t wake up for a run, I have to tell myself and the people that.
AKA’s dad walked five miles every day for the first week.
I don’t think about the distance or the pain as much when I’m running. Kiernan and the Megacy come to mind, he said.
