Somizi Mhlongo Partners with Reach For A Dream Foundation to Unveil Dream Club
Renowned Mzansi star and entrepreneur, Somizi Mhlongo, has joined forces with the Reach For A Dream Foundation to establish the Dream Club. This initiative aims to provide support and upliftment for children facing life-threatening illnesses, including cancer.
In a statement, Somizi expressed the vision behind Dream Club, stating, “Our vision is to walk alongside these resilient children throughout their healing journey, empowering them to emerge as courageous survivors.”
Birgit Deibele, representative of Reach For A Dream, shared insights with Briefly News, highlighting the choice of Somizi for this partnership. She emphasized Somizi’s positive influence and how he is beloved by the children.
“We invited Somizi Mhlongo to join us for our Dream Club launch because of our longstanding relationship with him. As an avid supporter of our mission, Somizi has helped make dreams come true for children fighting life-threatening illnesses,” she explained. “His status as a well-known media personality also makes him a familiar and admired figure among the children and hospital staff, many of whom see him as a role model. We believed Somizi would be the perfect fit to meet with these brave cancer warriors and share words of encouragement, helping them to believe that anything is possible – even recovery.”
Deibele continued, “Somizi’s genuine care and support, combined with his words of encouragement, brought smiles to their faces and instilled a renewed sense of motivation…”
Somizi’s visit to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital included the distribution of Dream Club kits to the children, accompanied by words of encouragement. The Dream Club initiative was officially launched on International Childhood Cancer Day, with Julia Sotirianakos, the CEO of Reach For A Dream, overseeing the event.
