Why Must I Talk About Zahara When She’s Dead? TK Nciza
Even though Zahara died in 2023, her tense relationship with her old record business is still talked about in the news.
Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza, Zahara’s former boss, said that a recently leaked audio recording of her moaning about him and DJ Sbu on the phone was malicious, since the singer has since died.
This doesn’t bother me at all. I can’t answer a nameless person; that part is over for me. It’s bad, I don’t want to worry about something I don’t know, Nciza told The Citizen.
In the audio, Zahara can be heard talking to an unknown guy who tells the award-winning singer that she needs to be strong to make it in the entertainment business.
It sounds like the singer said, They are being eaten inside by their guilty conscience, can’t you see DJ Sbu is hugging trees? The unnamed male voice then says, “DJ Sbu used to rob you, ne?
That’s too much; he’s still stealing from me, Zahara says.
The musician Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana died on a Monday night in the middle of December. Soon after her death, DJ Sbu and Nciza were blamed by the public for stealing from her by not paying her enough while she was signed to TS Records until 2016.

But in response to the recording that got out, Nciza said that the person on the other end of the line recorded the call without Zahara’s permission.
Why do I have to deal with things that someone without a face brings me? It’s clear she didn’t know she was being filmed. When did they record this, and why are they putting it out now? Nciza asked.
I answered everything one by one in 2014, when Zahara was still alive. Why do I have to talk about her now that she’s dead? He said, But I’ve worked in the game business for a long time and I know that these things are happening because it’s silly season.
Nciza is the Gauteng Provincial Secretary for the ANC. When asked by The Citizen if the tape was leaked because of his political ties, he said, People want to tear each other down, and bad news spreads faster than anything else. People want to hurt each other’s reputations because it’s the holiday season.
Nciza stated that he and Zahara had talked before she died. We talked and everything was fine, the politician said.
In 2019, Zahara said in public that her old record company owed her money.
Give me all of my money back. A lot of artists suffer in quiet, get depressed, and end up dying poor. I’m not going to be a number. She said at the time, I will speak out.
DJ Sbu said after Zahara’s death that he thought of the Loliwe singer as a younger sister.
We did great work together and had great times. She thought of me as her big brother and I as her little sister. Even though it’s not said in public, I know that people might be mad and want someone to blame, DJ Sbu said.
Right now, a lot of people blame me, even though I’m not to blame. But after being in the public eye for a long time, I know how South Africans and people are, especially when they love their own.
